Student Handbook

4. Student Code of Conduct

4.3. English Language Proficiency

Life Strategies welcomes diverse students from around the globe with varying levels of English language proficiency. We strive to use plain, accessible language throughout our programs and courses; however, they are designed and delivered in English, unless otherwise specified. As such, students are required to have a functional level of English language proficiency so that they can appropriately engage with the learning activities and resources, peers in their course, and their instructors.

Students with accommodation needs can connect with our student advisor and/or their instructor directly to discuss how our team can best support their success in their program and/or course.

In some of our more advanced programs and courses for counselling professionals (e.g., Ethics Training for Counsellors & PsychotherapistsFoundations of Supervision), the English language proficiency required is higher as they are graduate-level offerings. Graduate‑level English language proficiency is the ability to read, write, and communicate with precision, clarity, and critical depth in complex academic contexts. It reflects strong analytical thinking, coherent argumentation, and the capacity to engage with advanced texts and produce well‑structured, evidence‑based work.
