Life Strategies LearnOnline
Working within the career development sector can be a rewarding experience; however, it can also be challenging as waves of geopolitical, socioeconomic, and technology changes bring workforce disruptions and uncertainty for the future of work and learning. With the continued emphasis on supporting a diverse, resilient workforce, front-line career development professionals (CDPs) working in a variety of roles (e.g., job developer, workshop facilitator, case manager, intake assessment specialist, program coordinator, supervisor) and work settings (e.g., government-funded community services, educational institutions, corporations) are grappling with increasingly complex cases. CDPs also come to the sector from diverse educational and employment experiences – some with formal education from related sectors (e.g., psychology, HR, education), and some with rich, unique lived experiences.
To better support new CDPs’ entry into practice, this course will provide an orientation to the robust, evidence-based nature of career work. Be prepared to engage in deep reflection on your own career journeys and cultural identities as you build your understanding of the career development process. Leave with a refined sense of your place in the sector and professional development goals for yourself.
