Students are welcome to take individual modules based on their training needs; however, the modules can be bundled to receive credit for the full 20-hour, Work Search Essentials 1: Resumes, Cover Letters, and Career Portfolios Although the self-paced modules are independent of each other and can be completed in any order, for those aiming to complete the full CMPP Bundle, we do recommend completing in the order listed here.

Resumes remain a cornerstone of the job search process, serving as concise marketing tools that highlight a candidate’s qualifications for specific roles. This module introduces the differences between resumes and CVs, explores essential components and formats, and emphasizes the importance of tailoring documents to employers’ needs.

This module emphasizes the importance of building trust, recognizing diverse worldviews, and tailoring resumes to meet the needs of clients from varied backgrounds and experiences. Learners will explore how cultural, social, and situational factors influence resume preparation and how to adapt approaches to ensure inclusivity and relevance in a digitally driven environment.

This module explores strategies for auditing, managing, and enhancing one’s online presence to ensure it reflects professional values and supports career goals.

Cover letters are a key companion to resumes, offering job seekers the chance to directly address hiring managers and highlight their fit for a specific role. This module explores the structure, format, and purpose of cover letters as well as other work search letters. Learners will also address considerations for application submission whether those be paper-based or online.

This module explores the methods employers use to screen applicants, highlighting the implications for candidates navigating these processes. Learners will gain insight into how pre‑screening shapes hiring decisions and how to prepare clients for this stage of recruitment

This module will explore the utility of a career portfolio as both a tool for self-reflection and way to document evidence of qualifications in a structured, meaningful way. While portfolios have long been used in creative fields, leave equipped to support portfolio development and use across industries and situations.
